Where love is, pain exists. The pain of being in love is lovely. For some it’s excruciating, for others it’s the most valid pain that one can take, a prize to pay for being in love. Take me for that, as an example.
Love promises the most beautiful things, and we more often mistake it as proof that we’ll eventually end up with the same person we made those promises with. The sweeter the promise is, the more fascinating it becomes and the more we assume that nothing could ever go wrong.
Days, weeks, months and years. All those times, we did nothing but expect that the longer it takes, the longer we stay together, the more assurance we receive. The longer it runs, the more valid that we stick to it. No matter what, we will stand firm in believing that it’s the right love.
We are too busy taking those sweet assurances, and assumptions seriously. We got blinded, and the next morning we woke up. Staring at the person in bed with us, we get to realize something is off. The sun may have been there, but it does not give us the same warmth every time it greets us.
In every relationship, one must always remember that it’s a work in progress. It takes no period, no amount of effort, and no sweet promises not even the words “I love you” will take us to where we are seeing ourselves. Science says CHANGE IS CONSTANT. Yes, and we need to always pay attention to that.
In every second, changes happen. Most of the time, we fail to notice it. Or, it’s good to say we tend to intentionally ignore it. We fear too much and we choose to just keep away from it, the more we ignore it the more it grows. Changes feed from our fear, the fear to face it the moment it appears.
Cowardly, it’s common. Until our actions strike back. With or without being aware of it, it strikes back. By then, the warmth had already gone cold. Sweet promises turn sour and are covered with moulds, it tastes no different from a spoiled dish.
We thought that we covered and protected it, we believed that we did all the necessary to preserve it. Until one day, we opened the lid, poked a finger on it, brought it to our mouth and only then you realize that it had gone sour and too sour that it had to be thrown away in an instant.
What happens next? We spend time thinking about why how and where did we go wrong? We did our best to preserve and keep it safe, yet it has gone cold and sour.
Love needs nourishment, not preservation. How you keep your body healthy, doesn’t apply to how you keep your love growing. It needs to be set free, and allow love to prosper and grow. The greater it grows, the safer to say that it will always find its way to you. Love never leaves, it stays it remains.
This is the reason why we often end up bawling our eyes out, spending a longer time on empty cold nights. Wondering and pondering what went wrong?
Love does not need preservation, it needs owners who know how to expand, develop and make it into something that never goes berserk. It does not grow from controlling it, it does not feed on sweet promises.
Love….turns into pain when it’s grown under the lid. It feeds on dark thoughts and doubts.
