Dish matters….

What makes a good neighbor?

In the Philippines, having a good neighbour or being good to your neighbour is quite a trend. Not forcefully but voluntarily and willingly, however, some neighbours can’t hide their true intentions.

If you want to be tagged as a good neighbour, you should know how to return the dishes your neighbour lent you when they shared some home-cooked food. Nay it be during celebrations or just a regular day. Here’s what happen when you forget to return the dish.

Day 1. Your neighbour begins 5o feel anxious about your behavior.

Day 2. Your neighbour will start questioning your credibility, yes, because of an I returned dish!

Day 3. Whenever your neighbour looks at the dishes at home, it will remind them of you and the dish you failed to return. No matter how many dishes there are in front them.

Day 4. Your neighbour will start worrying about their dish, and begin to think of whether to barge into your door steps and ask for it.

Day 5. If convinced and decided of the unbelievable sentimental value of that dish. Eventually, your neighbour will be at any time be standing at your door knocking out loud..intentionally!πŸ˜‚

Day6. If your neighbour find it a little awkward to do such thing, for a dish since they wanted to establish a good neighbour image with you. The next time they sent you or give you some home cooked food.

They’ll wait for it as you transfer it to your dish at home. Even if you’d insist on returning it on your own or that you need to wash it. A sign that your neighbour has trust issues with you is this line with a fake smile. IT’S OKAY DON’T BOTHER WASHING IT, WILL WASH IT WITH THE DISHES IN THE SINK AT HOME!

When you hear that, you’d better hurry to give it back!πŸ˜‚ In the Philippines, your relationship with your neighbour depends on how you care about returning the dishes they lent you!πŸ˜‚ (This is quite funny, but it’s actually true).

Friendship and neighbour-to-neighbour relationships were tainted damaged and destroyed due to the failure to return a single dish within a week. So, if you happen to have a Filipino neighbour who’s generous and shares home-cooked food with you. You should always return the dish right away or if you don’t wanna get treated coldly over an unreturned dish!πŸ˜‚

Side note: The above words are genuine and facts about Filipino neighbours, it may sound hilarious but a single dish is treated as valuable by every Filipino household. Of course, not everyone but a lot do this thing, the majority in the simple neighbourhood within an average type of community. If you’re within the average to above average classification a dish might not matter that much. But still, returning what you owe to your neighbour can become an issue if you fail to do so. May it be a dish, a glass, a bottle, a spoon, a fork etc.,

Don’t ask me why, because I just woke up one day watching our neighbours being neighbours and doing what neighbours should be doing.πŸ˜‚
