Once upon a time, there was a man. Who lives by with whatever he’s got in mind. Who knows a lot about prejudices and compromise, nonetheless, he cares nothing about being straight as he speaks up to anyone.
He valued honesty like diamonds, his principles were treated like gold and treasures in his chest. He never for once kept anything up for himself, he lived that way in every day he spent.
Then there came the wind and destroyed his home, he talked to it with disappointment. The wind replied nonchalantly, and the man wept his heart so heavily.
One time the man walked his way to the town, in a happy mood he set foot in his favourite coffee house. He ordered a cup of drink and snuggled in the cornered seat. Then came the rain gushing all over the happy town, it left everything drenched in cold and the man frowned. He whispered while he glared at the rain, and its reply left him in a weary whim.
Inside his house, the man laid himself in bed, looking at the ceiling with a lot on his head. He knows that honesty is to be spoken, and while he complained for a lot he’s got nothing but his heart so broken. He glanced at the light coming from outside, the moon was waving at him so he got up and waved at it with gloom.
The moon then asked Why the sad look on your face, man that never lies? The man locked his eyes on the curious moon, he whispered in silence How can I not feel sad at all? When all my honesty seems to become but a tragedy of my own? Without his voice, he leaned forward on the ledge. The moon then spoke to the man that never lies.
I was created to bring light to the world when darkness takes place, with this dim brightness of mine I’m here to spark in the vastness of nothingness. Whilst the sun, with his might, shines with all his brightness in broad daylight. Now, man that never lies. May I ask you a question? The moon said.
Of course! The man who never lies replied. With a grin, the moon threw his question to the man who never lies. I feel wrong to be given this much of a task, given the fact that the sun might be able to bring brighter light at night than mine. The moon stared at the man who never lies intently.
Silly! The man who never lies exclaimed. To the moon’s surprise, leaned closer to the man who never lies. Then tell me, what made my honesty silly? The moon asked. If the sun comes at night and you come out in the daytime, then it won’t be called night and day. The man who never lies replied in simple approach.
Exactly! Then may ask? The moon again said. The man who never lies nods his head. Then why do you think honesty exists and why does it become your tragedy? The moon raised its brows in search of the man who never lies’ response.
The man stared at the dimmed bright moon with intent, while he ran his thought through his head. He then responded. Honesty comes with a price to pay. The man who never lies replied wearily. Exactly! The moon again exclaimed, but looking at the man’s disappointment. The moon took a distance from him.
While you believe that everything can be settled by being honest, you are taking away the balance between knowing what has to be understood and being justified. Your honesty justifies your reasons while being understood gives you the reason to be justified. Lies and honesty keep balance in things that need justification from those that need to be understood.
Like how my existence justifies the difference between night and day, and at the same time understand that the sun and I exist for different purposes and values. Your honesty will keep you living a more justified life, while others will misunderstand you for that. Your honesty will always turn out to be your tragedy.
In life, balance is strictly observed, as laws are made to justify the need for peace and order. Lies exist to understand the value of understanding the circumstance of each of the things that happens to us, thus, lying once becomes a habit will destroy the value of honesty.
